Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, November 20, 2024, Kolkata : The 103rd birth anniversary of renowned musician and music guru Subinoy Roy was celebrated with great reverence at the Swami Vivekananda Hall of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Kolkata. The event, organized by Anandi Communication Center and Rupsha Sahitya Patrika, saw the inauguration of a dedicated website on Guru Subinoy Roy, which was launched by Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, the Editor of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture.
A highlight of the event was a lyrical recital that explored themes of love and society through the songs of Rabindranath Tagore. The recital featured powerful performances by Aditi Gupta, Sagarmaya Bhattacharya, Dr. Soumya Bhattacharya, Professor Manasi Roychowdhury, Sanghamitra Bhattacharya, Subhashis Majumdar, and Indrani Bhattacharya. The musical contributions of Aditi Gupta, Indrani Bhattacharya, and Subhashis Majumdar were particularly celebrated by the audience.
Prominent attendees included Tirthankar Dev, Gautam Roy, and Rana Dutta. In his address, Swami Suparnananda Maharaj paid tribute to Subinoy Roy’s immense contribution to Rabindra Sangeet, acknowledging the deep influence the music guru had on the development and popularization of Tagore’s songs. The event saw a full auditorium, with the audience showing their appreciation through continuous applause.
The entire program, along with the lyrical drama, was conceptualized and written by music artist Indrani Bhattacharya. Her creative vision was met with high praise, and the audience expressed a strong desire to see more such performances in the future, with Bhattacharya’s continued involvement. The event was hosted by Sudipta Mukherjee and Tapas Chowdhury, adding to the evening’s festive atmosphere and making it a memorable tribute to Subinoy Roy’s legacy.
