Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 13, 2024, New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday in the CBI’s Excise Policy case. As news of the bail spread, there was a sense of relief among Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, and smiles returned to their faces. They were seen hugging each other with joy and shaking hands, celebrating the decision.
Kejriwal had already been granted interim bail in a separate case related to financial fraud involving the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into Delhi’s Excise Policy for 2021-22. He was arrested by the ED on March 21 as part of a probe into alleged irregularities. Later, on June 26, he was arrested by the CBI while in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate.
Following his release, AAP welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict, proclaiming “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs). Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was recently granted bail in the Excise Policy case, stated, “Today, once again, truth has triumphed over lies and conspiracies. The power of truth has broken the locks of the dictator’s prison.” Another senior AAP leader, Atishi, remarked, “Truth can be disturbed, but it cannot be defeated.”
Meanwhile, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia criticized Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, referring to him as the “Chief Minister of Bail” and demanded his resignation. Bhatia stated, “According to the will of the people of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal should resign as Chief Minister. But he won’t, because he lacks morals… He used to say that a politician should resign even if there are mere complaints. Now, after six months in jail and being out on bail, he remains in office. He is now in the category of the accused.”
As news of Kejriwal’s release spread, there was visible joy among AAP leaders and supporters. Celebrations erupted, and a sense of happiness was palpable. On the other hand, BJP leaders made various jibes and jokes. Political analysts are now closely watching how the people of Delhi will react to this development and what impact it will have on the political landscape.
