Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 28, 2024, Hooghly – In a significant breakthrough, the Tarkeswar Police of Hooghly district have dismantled an inter-state trafficking ring, successfully rescuing a missing minor girl after a determined investigation lasting over three months. The case began on July 13, 2024, when the family of a minor reported her missing at the Tarkeswar Police Station, setting off an extensive manhunt by local authorities.
After months of relentless pursuit, Tarkeswar Police tracked down and apprehended three key suspects involved in this organized trafficking syndicate. In a recent press conference, Kamnsheesh Sen, a senior official from Hooghly district, lauded the police team’s unwavering commitment and disclosed details of the operation. According to Sen, the traffickers had exploited social media to lure young girls, often posing under false identities and using promises of love or employment as bait.
Among those arrested were Nandak Kishore Kumar of East Champaran in Bihar, identified as the ring’s alleged leader, and two associates, Rahul Roy (also known as Mijanur Mandal) and Sriram Roy. The trio was apprehended in Krishnanagar, Nadia. All three suspects reportedly had connections to orchestral groups in Nepal and are believed to have been residing there in recent years. Police investigations suggest that Rahul Roy, in particular, played a significant role in the operation, creating fake social media profiles to target vulnerable women and minors.
Upon being brought before the Chandannagar Sessions Court, the accused were remanded to seven days of police custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are working to determine whether additional individuals may be involved in the trafficking network, and they remain committed to tracing and dismantling all connected nodes in this criminal operation.
This successful operation underscores the Tarkeswar Police’s dedication to safeguarding vulnerable individuals and dismantling trafficking networks, providing hope for victims and their families across the region.
