Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 16, 2024, Kolkata: On Monday, senior Kolkata Police officials unexpectedly visited the residence of Abhijit Mondal, the former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tala Police Station, who has been implicated in the RG Kar Hospital case. The visit was intended to show support for Mondal’s family and to discuss the ongoing situation.

Solomon Nisha Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division) Arish Bilal, and Deputy Commissioner (SSD) Vidisha Kalitha, arrived at Mondal’s home in Devyani Enclave, Surveypark. They spoke with Mondal’s wife, Sangeeta Mandal, and other family members.

Sangeeta Mandal reported that the CBI had contacted her about her husband’s arrest but had left her waiting for nearly three hours before providing the arrest memo.

The Kolkata Police officials conveyed their commitment to support Mondal’s family and assured them of their cooperation in all circumstances. They also emphasized that Mondal, who responded quickly to the incident at RG Kar Hospital, should not be blamed for the situation. The visit underscores the ongoing tensions and complexities surrounding the RG Kar case and the implications for those involved.

CBI Summons Four Calcutta Police Officers, Including Two Inspectors

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 16, 2024, Kolkata: The CBI has summoned four officers from the Calcutta Police, including two inspectors, in connection with the investigation of a high-profile case at RG Kar Hospital.
This move follows initial allegations of negligence and mishandling of the investigation by local police.

The CBI’s action suggests that there may be a larger conspiracy involved.

The officers, including two sub-inspectors, are believed to be linked to the case, which has raised speculation that the investigation could reveal new dimensions to the situation.
The case centers on the alleged rape and murder of a young student-doctor at RG Kar Hospital, which occurred on August 9. Allegations have surfaced that evidence was tampered with following the incident.
The post-mortem report and the hasty cremation of the victim’s body have intensified scrutiny.

The situation at RG Kar Hospital remains tense, with ongoing protests, a strike by junior doctors, and continued disruptions at the hospital.

The CBI’s intervention underscores growing concerns about the handling of the case and the possibility of uncovering a broader conspiracy.

CBI Uncovers Mistakes in Kolkata Police’s Case File: Investigation Continues

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 15, 2024, Kolkata: As investigations into the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital case continue, new developments are emerging. The brutal rape and murder of a female doctor at the RG Kar Medical College on August 9 has once again raised questions about the safety of women.

Initially, Kolkata Police had arrested a civic volunteer, Sanjay Rai, in connection with this horrific incident. However, the case took a significant turn last Saturday night when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two more individuals: Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abhijit Mondal and former Principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh. This brings the total number of arrests in this case to three.

The CBI has recently discovered multiple errors in the Kolkata Police’s case file, which they believe might unravel further mysteries. The central investigative agency is now planning to interrogate a high-ranking police officer via video conferencing as part of their ongoing probe.

During their investigation, CBI officials identified a series of discrepancies in the case diary maintained by the Kolkata Police. According to reports, these mistakes have led the CBI to question the integrity of the initial investigation. The CBI suspects that issues began as early as the start of the investigation and that these errors were not merely accidental but potentially indicative of deeper problems.

From August 9 to August 13, the CBI has been scrutinizing the call details of various police officials involved in the case. This thorough examination has brought several new findings to light, adding complexity to the investigation.

As the CBI continues to delve deeper into the case, the public and media remain on edge, hoping for answers and justice for the victim.

Procession Commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s Historic Chicago Speech

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 12, 2024, Kolkata: Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893, gave India a new impetus towards fraternity and unity. To commemorate this landmark event, a youth rally was organized at the foot of Swamiji’s statue in South Kolkata’s Chetla Park on Wednesday. The event was organized by the Vivekananda Bhava Syndication Center, Shasvat Nirbhik Pathik.

The Ramakrishna Mission has been observing this day as World Brotherhood Day for the past 26 years. In honor of this occasion, a grand procession was organized by the Mission. The procession started from the foot of Swamiji’s statue in Chetla Park, South Kolkata, and passed through significant landmarks associated with Ramakrishna and Vivekananda. These included the Advaita Ashram Seva Institution, Sarada Mission, Metropolitan Institution, Kathamrita Bhavan, Swamiji’s ancestral home, Balaram Mandir, his school and house, his mother’s house, Udyanbati, Baranagar Mission, and Math. The procession culminated at the Adyapith Temple in Dakshineshwar, touching several important sites in Kolkata along the way.

The colorful procession was inaugurated by Swami Ishtabratananda Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, at the foot of Swamiji’s statue in Chetla Park. In his address, he stated, “Hinduism is the mother of all religions; it accepts all religions. Religion means the progress of the nation. Nivedita’s fight was not only against British rule but also for individual freedom.” Following the inauguration, Swami Ishtabratananda Maharaj elaborated on the significance of the day and the various philosophies espoused by Swamiji, delivering his message in eloquent terms.

Later, a religious gathering was organized by the Ramakrishna Mission at the Nat Mandir of the Adyapith Temple. The Secretary of Dakshineshwar Ramakrishna Sangha Adyapith, Brahmachari Muralbai, and Swami Nisthananda Maharaj of Belur Math delivered speeches during the gathering, emphasizing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Several monks from the Ramakrishna Math and Mission were also present at this event.

The day concluded with a public meeting at Adyapith, where Swami Nisthananda Maharaj of Belur Math delivered a valuable speech on Swamiji’s philosophy and relevance in today’s world. Reflecting on Swami Vivekananda’s powerful address in Chicago on September 11, 1893, he remarked, “When Swami Vivekananda addressed the world as ‘Sisters and Brothers of America,’ he inaugurated a new era of world brotherhood. That message is even more relevant today in our violence-ridden world.”

RG Kar rape and murder case: Mamata Banerjee says ready to resign for sake of Bengal people

A 30-member delegation of junior doctors refuse to meet Bengal CM, after their request for a live broadcast of the meeting was turned down by the West Bengal government

PTI, Calcutta, 12.09.24: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addresses a press conference amid a stalemate with protesting doctors over their slew of demands over RG Kar Hospital rape and murder incident, at Nabanna, Howrah on September 12.: PTI picture.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday offered to resign “for the sake of people” and said she also want justice for the murdered RG Kar hospital doctor.

“I apologise to the people of Bengal who expected an end to the RG Kar impasse today. They (junior doctors) came to Nabanna but did not sit for the meeting. I request them to go back to work,” Banerjee told a press conference.

“I am ready to resign for the sake of the people as, despite my best intentions and efforts in the last three days, the medics declined to hold talks,” the chief minister said.

Assuring the doctors that no action will be taken against them, she said the government is always ready for a dialogue. Her anger fell on people, who, she hinted, were masterminding the protest with vested interests.

Pointing to the proliferation of anti-government messages on social media, she said, “Our government has been insulted. Common people do not know there is a political colour to it”.

The people behind the political colour, she said, “Do not want justice. They want the chair”.

The doctors’ delegation had come till the gate of the secretariat for the meeting that was expected to begin at 5 pm. But they refused to enter as the government had refused one of their demands – the live transmission of the proceedings. The government, the Chief Minister had said, could not allow live transmission since the matter is being heard by the Supreme Court.

The government had accepted all others – including the presence of more members, 33 instead of 15, and then an extra member in the delegation that came. About live transmission, they had said they could not allow that but the proceedings will be recorded. But that proved the stumbling block for a meeting that many hoped, would end the impasse and herald the beginning of normalcy.

Banerjee said the doctors were only carrying out instructions. “I know many in the delegation were interested in talks. But two of three people were giving instructions from outside. We have all that. We could see that because it was being recorded by the press, which were standing right behind… They were giving instructions – ‘Do not negotiate, do not go to the meeting’,” the chief minister said.

The Chief Minister had waited while the debate continued outside – and she pointed out, this was not the first time. At the end of two hours, at the impromptu press conference, she said, “I apologise to the emotions of the people of Bengal. You thought this matter will be resolved today”.

Then with folded hands she said, “I have been sitting here for two hours. I waited yesterday too. Not just me, the senior officials too against whom they are complaining all the time”.

And they will wait, she said. “Uttar Pradesh, she said, took action. “We also haver ESMA (Essential services Maintenance Act). But I will not do that. I am not a supporter of Emergency”.

Her only request, she said, was that the doctors return to work, because the people are suffering – those who needed heart or kidney operations, those who need immediate care, like pregnant woman about to give birth. But there was a sting in the tale: “If the families (of patients who suffer because of the protest) want an answer from us, we will be ready for that,” she said. The government has already claimed 27 people have died because healthcare has suffered during the protest — an allegation rubbished by the doctors.

“I have tried my best to speak to the doctors. I apologise to the people Bengal, the people of the country and the world who are supporting them. Please support them. We also want justice — for Tilottama, for the patients of Bengal who are suffering,” the Chief Minister added.

The protesting doctors have demanded a string of resignations, including that of Kolkata police chief Vineet Goyal and two senior officials of the health department. They have made it clear that they are not willing to relent till their demands are met.

The case has gone to the Supreme Court after the judges took note of the matter on their own. But dealing with the protesting doctors has been left to the state government. The rape-murder case and that of financial irregularities at the hospital are being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Standoff Continues as Junior Doctors Demand Live Streaming of Meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 12, 2024, Kolkata

: A crucial meeting between junior doctors and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was held at the Nabanna Assembly Hall on Thursday afternoon but ended in a stalemate after one and a half hours. The meeting was marked by a disagreement over the doctors’ demand for live streaming, which the state government refused to accept.

The agitating junior doctors made it clear that they would not participate in any discussion unless the meeting was live-streamed. They argued that live streaming would ensure transparency and accountability in the discussions with the Chief Minister and state officials. Despite waiting for a long time, the junior doctors did not budge from their position.

On the other hand, the state government remained firm in its stance against live streaming. State Police Director General Rajeev Kumar, responding to reporters’ questions, stated that the matter was still pending in certain aspects, and therefore, live streaming was not possible. This refusal has led to a deadlock, with neither side willing to compromise.

The ongoing agitation, which includes a hunger strike and work stoppages by the junior doctors, has severely impacted healthcare services in the state. Patients, especially those from rural areas, are suffering due to the unavailability of doctors. With doctors on strike, many government hospitals in rural areas are left without adequate medical staff for half the day, leading to a significant disruption in healthcare delivery.

Patients and their families, especially those from poor and middle-class backgrounds, have expressed frustration over the situation. Many are being forced to travel from remote villages to city hospitals to receive basic medical care, only to find that services are disrupted. The emergency departments in several hospitals are also affected, with reports of doctors leaving before the end of their shifts, citing excuses related to lunch or rest time.

The general public has expressed their discontent with both the junior doctors and the state government. While the doctors’ agitation is centered around legitimate demands for better working conditions and security, the public is questioning the disruption of essential services. There is also criticism of the state government for its inability to resolve the situation and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.

The issue has sparked a broader debate on the state of healthcare in rural West Bengal. Many rural government hospitals are struggling due to a lack of adequate doctors and resources, leading to poor healthcare services for the residents of those areas. The agitation by junior doctors has further highlighted these systemic issues, drawing attention to the gaps in healthcare delivery across the state.

As the standoff continues, the deadlock between the junior doctors and the state government remains unresolved. The insistence on live streaming the meeting has become a point of contention, with both sides holding firm on their positions. Meanwhile, the general public continues to bear the brunt of the impasse, with healthcare services across West Bengal severely affected.

The situation calls for urgent intervention and a resolution that addresses the concerns of the junior doctors while also ensuring that patient care is not compromised. Both sides need to come to a consensus to restore normalcy in the healthcare system and provide relief to the suffering public.

High-Level Meeting Held to Strengthen Security in District Hospitals

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 12, 2024, Kolkata: A high-level meeting was convened on Thursday to address pressing concerns regarding the security infrastructure across various hospitals in West Medinipur. The meeting aimed at enhancing security measures in all sub-division hospitals, super-specialty hospitals, and especially Medinipur Medical College, a key healthcare facility in the district.

The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Khurshid Ali Quadri and attended by prominent officials, including the District Superintendent of Police, the District Chief Health Officer, the Principal and Superintendent of Medinipur Medical College, and the Superintendents of other district hospitals. The gathering underscored the growing need for bolstering hospital security in light of recent incidents and was driven by a mandate to comply with recent court directives on hospital safety and security.

The discussions were centered around enhancing the security framework to address vulnerabilities in the current system. The agenda included several key areas:

Installation of CCTV Cameras: One of the primary points of discussion was the need for a comprehensive CCTV surveillance system across all hospitals. The officials deliberated on the number of CCTV cameras required in different hospital zones, including entrances, emergency wards, outpatient departments, and high-risk areas like Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Medinipur Medical College, being a major healthcare institution, was a focal point, with detailed discussions on the optimal placement and number of cameras needed for round-the-clock monitoring.

Security for Sensitive Areas: The meeting also focused on the safety of sensitive areas such as restrooms, especially those designated for women doctors, and public toilets. Ensuring privacy and safety in these areas was highlighted as a priority. It was decided that additional security personnel might be deployed in these areas, alongside technological measures like motion-sensor lights and emergency alarm systems.

Deployment of Security Personnel: Another critical aspect was the deployment of trained security personnel at strategic points within the hospitals. The need for more female security staff was also emphasized, especially for the safety of female patients and healthcare workers. The idea is to have a balanced team of male and female guards to cater to different security needs across all hospital facilities.

Visitor Management System: To prevent unauthorized entry and potential security breaches, the discussion also included implementing an advanced visitor management system. This would include issuing visitor passes, maintaining digital logs, and conducting mandatory ID checks at all entry points.

Emergency Response and Crisis Management: The meeting highlighted the importance of establishing a robust emergency response system. This would involve regular security drills, training hospital staff in basic crisis management protocols, and setting up quick-response teams to handle emergencies like fire, assault, or other security incidents.

Collaboration with Local Law Enforcement: It was also decided to enhance collaboration with local law enforcement agencies. Regular patrols around hospital perimeters, quick response to distress calls, and better coordination between hospital security and the police were some of the measures proposed.

The officials agreed to draft a comprehensive report based on the discussions, outlining the proposed security enhancements. This report will detail the number of CCTV cameras needed, the locations requiring increased security personnel, and the implementation plan for the new visitor management system. This document will be submitted to the state health department for approval and allocation of necessary funds.

The drive to strengthen security is in compliance with recent court orders that mandate stricter security protocols in healthcare facilities. These orders come in response to a series of unfortunate incidents in hospitals across the state, including assaults on healthcare workers and thefts, raising concerns about the overall safety and security of these institutions.

The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to making district hospitals safer for patients, staff, and visitors. The District Magistrate emphasized the importance of timely implementation of these measures and urged all departments to work collaboratively to enhance security standards. Once the plan is approved, it is expected that the new measures will significantly improve the safety environment in all hospitals across West Medinipur.

The district’s healthcare community is hopeful that these proposed measures, once implemented, will create a safer and more secure environment, ensuring that hospitals remain places of healing and trust.

Junior Doctors March to Nabanna for Meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 12, 2024, Kolkata: Junior doctors have launched a campaign to Nabanna, the state secretariat, with a delegation of 30 representatives, making it clear that they intend to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The agitating doctors had communicated their decision to the Chief Secretary via email, stating their firm stance on the size of their delegation.

Before heading to Nabanna, the protesting doctors held a press briefing where they revealed that the Chief Secretary had informed them via email about a scheduled meeting with them at 5 p.m. at Nabanna. The Chief Secretary had written to the protestors on Thursday afternoon, indicating that the state would hold a discussion with the junior doctors, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be present. The letter mentioned that 15 representatives from the junior doctors’ side were expected to attend the meeting and that the discussion could be recorded for transparency.

However, the junior doctors have insisted on bringing 30 representatives instead of the 15 suggested by the administration. They have made it clear that a meeting with fewer than 30 representatives would not be feasible for them. Their intention is to meet the Chief Minister directly and discuss their demands.

The doctors arrived at Nabanna by 4:45 p.m., having organized a bus to transport their 30 representatives to the state secretariat. Their firm approach signals their determination to engage in a direct dialogue with the state administration. The junior doctors also demanded that the entire meeting be live-streamed. They argued that if Supreme Court hearings can be broadcast live, then their discussion with the state government should also be made public. They plan to present this demand to the authorities at Nabanna.

The junior doctors aim to discuss their 5-point demand during the meeting. These demands have been communicated to the Chief Secretary in advance via email. They seek a transparent discussion and believe that live streaming the meeting would help maintain clarity on the proceedings and outcomes.

This campaign by junior doctors comes in the wake of ongoing grievances over working conditions, security, and other professional issues. The doctors have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in healthcare facilities and are seeking concrete assurances and actions from the government to address these issues.

As the junior doctors prepare to sit face-to-face with the state administration, all eyes are on the outcome of this crucial meeting. The presence of the Chief Minister at the discussion is a significant step, and the junior doctors hope that their demands will be addressed adequately. The demand for live streaming adds a layer of public accountability, underscoring their desire for transparency in the negotiation process.

The state government’s response and the potential resolutions arising from this meeting could play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare services and the working environment for doctors in West Bengal.

Supreme Court Orders Junior Doctors to End Strike and Return to Work Amid RG Kar Hospital Case

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 9, 2024, New Delhi/ Kolkata:

Amidst the ongoing turmoil following the tragic rape and murder of a young doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, the Supreme Court of India has issued a stern directive to junior doctors to end their month-long strike and return to work. The strike, which began as a protest demanding justice for the slain doctor and the resignation of the Kolkata Police Commissioner, has severely impacted healthcare services in the state, leading to a reported 23 deaths due to inadequate medical attention over the 28-day period.

The protests have included a “Lalbazar Abhiyan” (march to Lalbazar) campaign, where junior doctors demanded accountability from the police administration and expressed their dissatisfaction with the handling of the case. Despite repeated pleas from the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, to resume work to restore normalcy in the healthcare system, the protesting doctors have continued their strike, intensifying the crisis.

Supreme Court’s Directive to Junior Doctors
On Monday, in its second hearing on the matter, the Supreme Court of India delivered a clear message to the striking doctors, emphasizing their primary duty to provide medical care. The bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, directed the junior doctors to return to their duties by 5 PM on Tuesday, recognizing the critical nature of the situation and the urgent need to resume healthcare services.

“Providing treatment is the foremost responsibility of doctors. Given the circumstances, it is imperative that they return to work immediately,” the Chief Justice stated during the hearing. The Supreme Court also assured the doctors that the state government would not take any punitive action against those who return to work within the stipulated time frame.

Protection from State Action, But with Conditions
The apex court further clarified that while the state government is barred from taking any action against the doctors who resume their duties on time, this immunity does not extend beyond the specified period. “If the doctors do not return to work even after the deadline, the Supreme Court cannot prevent the state government from taking necessary action against them,” the bench stated, indicating that the patience of both the judiciary and the state administration is wearing thin.

The Supreme Court’s directive is seen as an attempt to balance the need for justice for the young doctor with the broader public interest of maintaining essential health services. The court also reminded the state government of its responsibility to ensure the safety and security of all medical professionals, thereby addressing some of the concerns raised by the striking doctors.

Ongoing Crisis in West Bengal’s Healthcare System
The strike by junior doctors has thrown West Bengal’s healthcare system into chaos. Hospitals have been struggling to provide adequate services, with many patients being turned away or referred to other facilities due to a lack of medical staff. Reports from the state indicate that at least 23 people have died over the past month due to the disruption caused by the strike, underscoring the dire situation.

The Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has repeatedly appealed to the striking doctors to resume their duties, emphasizing that the state government is committed to addressing their concerns. “We understand the grief and anger, but the people of Bengal need their doctors back at work. Lives are at stake,” she said, urging the medical community to act in the public interest.

A Crucial Moment for Healthcare in Bengal
The Supreme Court’s directive marks a crucial moment in the ongoing struggle between the protesting doctors and the state administration. While the demand for justice and safety for healthcare professionals remains strong, the extended strike has also exposed the vulnerabilities of the healthcare system in West Bengal, highlighting the need for a balanced approach that ensures both justice and the continuation of essential services.

As the 5 PM Tuesday deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the junior doctors to see if they heed the Supreme Court’s call to return to work or risk potential state action. The decision taken by the medical community in the coming hours will significantly impact not only the ongoing investigation but also the future of healthcare services in West Bengal.

The Supreme Court’s ruling also serves as a reminder of the delicate balance that needs to be maintained between protests for justice and the duty to serve the public. As the RG Kar Hospital case continues to unfold, it is hoped that all stakeholders can work towards a resolution that ensures both justice and the uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services to the people of West Bengal.

Supreme Court Orders CISF : Prompts CBI Action After RG Kar Hospital Case Hearing

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 9, 2024, Delhi/Kolkata: The Supreme Court of India, in a significant directive on Monday, ordered the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of doctors across the country. The Chief Justice, without delving into the specifics of funds allocated to state hospitals, questioned the actual steps that have been implemented within these healthcare facilities. The court has mandated that the state government provide a comprehensive report on the progress made in improving hospital security and infrastructure at the next hearing.

The Supreme Court also instructed that district collectors should be appointed to oversee medical colleges and ensure that adequate steps are taken to address safety and infrastructure concerns. This directive places considerable pressure on the state government to take effective measures to safeguard doctors and health workers while enhancing the overall medical infrastructure. The Supreme Court’s orders have clearly pushed the state to demonstrate tangible efforts in ensuring the safety of healthcare professionals and improving conditions in hospitals.

CBI Back in Action at RG Kar Hospital
Following the Supreme Court’s hearing on the RG Kar Hospital case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has swung into action. The CBI’s Special Crime Branch is actively investigating the alleged rape and murder of a young doctor at the hospital. The agency had earlier submitted its status report to the Supreme Court on Monday, outlining the progress of the investigation. The case is set to be heard again next week.

On the same day, a five-member CBI team, accompanied by central forces, reached RG Kar Hospital around noon. The officers were seen investigating in the emergency building of the hospital, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses to uncover the truth behind the heinous crime. As of the time of writing this report, the CBI’s investigation at the hospital was ongoing, reflecting their intensified efforts following the Supreme Court’s directives.

Mounting Pressure and Calls for Justice
Meanwhile, the call for justice in the RG Kar case is growing louder, with protests and movements intensifying across West Bengal. The tragic death of the young doctor has sparked widespread outrage, with demands for justice coming from both the public and various civil society groups. The Supreme Court, recognizing the urgency of the situation, also ordered junior doctors to return to work by Tuesday afternoon, ensuring that hospital services remain uninterrupted amid the ongoing investigations.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee echoed the Supreme Court’s appeal, urging junior doctors to resume their duties following the apex court’s directive. “We must not let this tragedy paralyze our healthcare system. I request all doctors to return to work and continue their service to the people,” said the Chief Minister.

The Road Ahead
The Supreme Court’s stern directives and the CBI’s immediate response mark a critical turning point in the RG Kar Hospital case. With the next hearing scheduled soon, the state government faces the challenge of proving its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of doctors and health workers. The central investigative agency, on the other hand, is expected to accelerate its probe to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.

As the investigation progresses, the people of West Bengal, along with the medical community, are closely watching the developments, hoping for swift justice and improved safety standards in hospitals across the state. The RG Kar case has highlighted the urgent need for systemic reforms, and the coming days will be crucial in determining the future course of action by both the state government and the central agencies involved.
