The event, which took place in the presence of artisans and dignitaries, marks an important milestone in preserving and promoting Bengal’s rich cultural heritage. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also named the exhibition center, located adjacent to the Biswa Bangla Convention Center, as ‘Rupanna’.
The ‘Banglar Haat’ will feature handicrafts from four districts and GI-tagged items every fortnight, offering a platform for artisans to showcase their work. The event holds particular significance for the handicrafts from remote villages, whose creations have long been awaiting such recognition. These handmade products not only represent the cultural vibrancy of Bengal but have also gained recognition across India and the world, with various industries and artists bringing pride to the state.
