Forecasts indicate that a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Wednesday. This cyclone is expected to make landfall between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Dwip in West Bengal on Thursday morning. As a precautionary measure, the state has announced the closure of schools and colleges from October 23 to 26 across eight affected districts, including East and West Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Kolkata, Purulia, and Jhargram.
